The Festive Season has always been a special time of year here, at Lake House, Daylesford. Almost 40 years since we opened our doors, we’re delighted to welcome multi-generations and to be a favoured place for families to gather and celebrate milestones and occasions. The Festive Season is no exception. Come December, Christmas lights, decorated Christmas trees, sumptuous wreaths and twinkling candles welcome guests from near and far. Each year the Lake House take on the traditional Christmas pudding has always been central to a long lunch or dinner over the Christmas holidays, and in recent years those who are not able to join the festivities at our iconic House on the Lake can pre-order their own puddings to enjoy at home. But you’d better be quick to place your order, with only a limited number of puddings available – they tend to sell out quickly each year. Made right here in Daylesford, this is a dense pudding with rich abundant fruit; raisins, sultanas, currants, orange, lemon, and grapefruit peel and segments, apples, ginger, spices, and a generous dose of dark ale, rum, sherry & Madeira. Dress it up with dark fruits; cherries, blackberries, blueberries, and mulberries, or perhaps fresh sweet mango and citrus for an "Aussie Summer" feel? It’s your choice. Each season we assess the bounty from our 300+ tree olive grove and save only the best fruit for a Single Estate Extra Virgin Olive Oil. It’s a true reflection of the season and the region, a snapshot if you will. Our olive grove at Dairy Flat is cultivated using organic methods to achieve a product that is not only delicious but good for you. Harvested in mid July 2023 at time for peak flavour opportunity, the result is this unique, small batch single estate version of our popular Olive Oil. A warming Dairy Flat Farm blend of cardamom, cloves, star anise, cinnamon, citrus peel, ginger, pimento and pepper. Served in a large ceramic mug over Scrabble in the library or in a tea glass for a warming welcome, it’s one of our favourite ways to boost the day. Ingredients: Star Anise, Orange Peel, Black Peppercorns, Cardamom, Cinnamon, Cloves, All Spice, Berries & Ginger Root. Instructions: Scoop 1 spoon per desired cup and steep for 3.5 minutes. You can also add to a saucepan with apple juice, simmering for 5 minutes. This sweeter spiced “tea” can be served hot or placed in the fridge for that base of an iced tea over the warmer months. Francois Villard Saint Peray Version Longue, 2017 Northern Rhone, France Francois Villard Version Longue is 100% Marsanne and a stand out Saint-Peray from 3 plots on Les Faures. Plantings date back to 1975, late 1988-1993, and 1996. They sit in sand with loose stone granite. The Villard Version Longue is a cellar selection that undergoes a slow, cool fermentation before transition to oak. It is unique in style and one of the best expression of the grape on the planet. Donnhoff 'Kreuznacher Kahlenberg' Riesling Erste Lage, 2021 Nahe, Germany The history of this fabled and benchmark estate, based in Oberhausen an der Nahe in Germany’s Nahe Valley, can be traced back over 250 years.  Wine growing is firmly entrenched in the Dönnhoff families’ DNA with history books noting harvest conditions as far back as the 1780’s and the family today farm some 28Ha of vines, made up of 80% Riesling with the balance Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris. An uber must for riesling lovers... Craiglee Chardonnay, 2021 Sunbury, Vic Patrick and Dianne Carmody have been producing wines with fruit exclusively grown, picked and bottled on site in Sunbury since they first planted grapes in 1976. The wine is fermented and nurtured in French oak barrels, unfiltered, minimal So2 added. Full flavoured palate with grapefruit and white stone fruits. The oak supports the weight of the wine generously. Reed Alexia Grenache, 2022 Barossa Valley, S.A Delicate and haunting in the front of the palate followed by layer after layer of bright red fruits and crushed rose.  The framework is very airy with present but integrated tannins and sherbet like tartness. Its endless layers and flavour and its ability to be as light as a feather on the palate all the while never lacking in depth, magic trick of a wine. These are the words of winemaker Sierra Reed, talented and passionate character who understands the uniqueness of Australian Grenache in the wine world. Elderton Command, 2017 Barossa Valley S.A Estate grown on the Nuriootpa vineyard, the fruit is sourced from a single block planted in 1894, classed as an Ancestor vineyard by the Barossa Old Vine Charter. The estate is a rare piece of Barossa Valley's unique viticultural heritage and produces a great wine of the world. The Command is truly an Australian Icon. 2017 is considered a vintage of elegance and poise in the Barossa. Castello Romitorio Brunello di Montalcino, 2017 Montalcino, Italy To the northwest of Montalcino, Tuscany, the historical Castello Romitorio’s vineyards are surrounded by thick woods receiving moderate sun exposure. The relatively cool setting was an advantage in 2017. These are some of the sleekest and most perfumed wines of the region. Check out their Filo di Seta top Riserva!!

Handpicked Coratina, Correggiola & Picual varieties from Dairy Flat Farm, have paired perfectly with the Frantoio variety from Kyneton to create a unique and very fine EVO from our region. 500ml

Our house spiced nuts pack contains peanuts, cashews, almonds, macadamia nuts. They are spiced with garlic, chili, shallot, and coated in a small amount of oil then roasted to perfection. 200g

This fragrant, sweet blend combines some of the region’s best ingredients including elderberry which is renowned for its high levels of vitamin C and antioxidants, making it a powerful drink for those wanting to boost their immune system. The combination of four different types of berries with floral notes makes it a relaxing and calming tea drunk warm in the morning or over ice in the afternoon. Ingredients: Blackberries, Elderberries, Raspberry, Strawberry, Rose Petals, Rosehip Shells, Hibiscus, Black Tea, Peppermint and Lemon Peel.
