“One of the icons,” says James Halliday. And so it is.
Established in 1988 – just after Lake House first opened its doors; Bindi is now renowned as one of the best wineries in Australia serving up top-shelf Chardonnay and remarkable Pinot Noir. 50 kilometres north-west of Melbourne in the Macedon Ranges, is the family property of the Dhillon family. Originally purchased in the 1950s as part of the larger grazing farm ‘Bundaleer’, ‘Bindi’ is a 170-hectare farm of which 7 hectares are planted with largely high density vineyards, producing wines of exceptional quality. The newly released Block 8 and Darshan wines give a new meaning to premium Australian Pinot Noir.
The vineyard and winemaking philosophy is to seek balance and purity in the expression of its various vineyard sites. This philosophy is applied to both farming and conservation at Bindi; the preservation of the natural harmony.
Their wines are hard to come by and coveted by collectors, we are grateful and proud to have the opportunity to share them with you over the years and even more so as we enter our 40th Year at Lake House.

More About Cullen Wines
Grown in the ancient soils of Wilyabrup, Cullen Wine comes from the heart of the land rather than the mind of the winemaker.
A pioneer of Margaret River, Cullen Wines has always produced long-lived wines of highly individual style from the mature estate vineyard. The vineyard has progressed beyond organic to biodynamic certification and, subsequently, has become the first vineyard and winery in Australia to be certified carbon positive.
“Winemaking is in the hands of Vanya Cullen, daughter of founders Kevin and Diana Cullen; she is possessed with an extraordinarily good palate and generosity to the cause of fine wine. Vanya is also a pioneer of biodynamic viticulture in Australia and was awarded the Companion’s inaugural Viticulturist of the Year in 2022, Cullen’s 50th anniversary year” – James Halliday
Vanya Cullen has honoured the legacy of her parents by following in their footsteps, humbly accepting the Order of Australia (OAM) for her services to viticulture and oenology. It was a pleasure to welcome her and host a lunch full of long term Lake House guests and fans of her wonderful wines.
