The Festive Season has always been a special time of year here, at Lake House, Daylesford. Almost 40 years since we opened our doors, we’re delighted to welcome multi-generations and to be a favoured place for families to gather and celebrate milestones and occasions. The Festive Season is no exception. Come December, Christmas lights, decorated Christmas trees, sumptuous wreaths and twinkling candles welcome guests from near and far. Each year the Lake House take on the traditional Christmas pudding has always been central to a long lunch or dinner over the Christmas holidays, and in recent years those who are not able to join the festivities at our iconic House on the Lake can pre-order their own puddings to enjoy at home. But you’d better be quick to place your order, with only a limited number of puddings available – they tend to sell out quickly each year. Made right here in Daylesford, this is a dense pudding with rich abundant fruit; raisins, sultanas, currants, orange, lemon, and grapefruit peel and segments, apples, ginger, spices, and a generous dose of dark ale, rum, sherry & Madeira. Dress it up with dark fruits; cherries, blackberries, blueberries, and mulberries, or perhaps fresh sweet mango and citrus for an "Aussie Summer" feel? It’s your choice. From the spinning wheel to the final kiln firing, each ceramic bowl is a testament to her passion and skill, ensuring that no two are alike. The candle has been hand poured into the bowl using soy wax with five cotton wicks for a beautiful glow.
