A warming Dairy Flat Farm blend of cardamom, cloves, star anise, cinnamon, citrus peel, ginger, pimento and pepper. Served in a large ceramic mug over Scrabble in the library or in a tea glass for a warming welcome, it’s one of our favourite ways to boost the day. Ingredients: Star Anise, Orange Peel, Black Peppercorns, Cardamom, Cinnamon, Cloves, All Spice, Berries & Ginger Root. Instructions: Scoop 1 spoon per desired cup and steep for 3.5 minutes. You can also add to a saucepan with apple juice, simmering for 5 minutes. This sweeter spiced “tea” can be served hot or placed in the fridge for that base of an iced tea over the warmer months. Written in verse by Culinary Director Alla Wolf-Tasker AM, with stunning illustrations by the late Allan Wolf-Tasker, this heartfelt book tackles themes of problem solving by a colourful, diverse community. It explores resilience, courage, a reflection on greed, the pursuit of personal wealth at the expense of others and the stifling sense of solitude and “aloneness” it engenders. Yet, it also celebrates the joys that are to be had through music, good food and friendship when a community prevails and celebrates. The verses in the book were written some 40 years ago by Alla Wolf-Tasker, who penned the poem, and her late husband Allan Wolf-Tasker, who brought it to life with his watercolour illustrations. The production of the book was paused as both became engrossed with the building of Lake House. It was the arrival of two grandchildren that spurred the resurrection of the little book – Allan completing the illustration in 2022 shortly before his death in December of that year. Alla's intent on seeing the project to fruition has overseen its production. “To my mind its just as relevant as it was 40 years ago. Perhaps more so... And I think its a fitting reminder of Allan's varied skills. The beautiful illustrations will bring much joy to children who’ll no doubt also enjoy the rhyming couplets as much as I once did.” Alla Wolf-Tasker AM Proceeds from the book are being used for bursaries for young enthusiasts in the fields of the Arts, Hospitality and Regenerative Agriculture.
